Business Development Manager

The Linear Motion Division is a major contributor to the Segment, with approximately 1,500 global associates and $400M in revenue. There are 9 main sites located across the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, & Europe.


The Business Development Manager will drive profitable growth across the Medical and Industrial Automation markets, with Robotics as one of the key growth areas. The role will identify and develop new customers, applications and commercial opportunities for the Linear Motion division, while strengthening relationships with strategic OEMs, distribution partners and existing accounts.


Working closely with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Strategic Marketing and Operations, the Business Development Manager will translate customer and market needs into focused growth plans, differentiated solutions and a strong opportunity pipeline. The role combines strategic market development with hands-on customer engagement and commercial execution


Major Responsibilities:

Strategic tasks

  • Develop and execute business development plans for the Medical and Industrial Automation markets, including Robotics growth opportunities.
  • Segment and map the assigned markets, target applications, customers and competitors to identify where the division can win and grow market share.
  • Identify key growth accounts, emerging applications and unmet customer needs, converting insights into clear account and opportunity plans.
  • Validate market trends and customer requirements against the Linear Motion strategy and recommend adjustments to support sustainable growth.
  • Conduct competitive analysis to understand competitor positioning, technology, pricing and barriers to growth.
  • Partner with Product Management and Engineering to identify portfolio gaps and develop solution ideas and business cases.
  • Lead Voice of the Customer activity to support strategy, innovation priorities and product roadmaps.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders across OEMs, integrators, end users and distribution partners.

Tactical tasks

  • Create and maintain a qualified opportunity pipeline, progressing opportunities from initial discovery through commercial handover and closure.
  • Engage directly with customers to understand applications, technical requirements, value drivers and buying processes.
  • Coordinate technical and commercial resources to develop compelling proposals using the Linear Motion product portfolio.
  • Partner with regional Sales and Account Managers on target accounts, customer visits, opportunity reviews and growth plans.
  • Develop and deliver market, application and solution training for internal sales teams and external channel partners.
  • Support industry campaigns, webinars, exhibitions and other demand-generation activities aligned with the growth plan.
  • Develop customer-specific value propositions and support value-based selling, margin and business-case discussions.
  • Capture market intelligence, customer feedback and win/loss insights in the relevant CRM and planning tools.
  • Provide regular updates on pipeline, sales activity, risks, priorities and progress against agreed growth initiatives.

Additional Roles & Responsibilities

  • Authority to propose customer solutions from the Linear Motion product portfolio in partnership with the appropriate technical and commercial teams.
  • Authority to recommend changes to sales collateral, application content, training and market-facing materials.
  • Act as a visible advocate for Regal Rexnord solutions within the assigned markets and applications.

Required Education / Experience / Skills:

  • Degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated B2B business development or technical sales experience within industrial automation, medical technology, robotics, linear motion, motion control or a related manufacturing market.
  • Experience developing new business with OEMs, machine builders, integrators, distributors or industrial end users.
  • Good understanding of mechanical components combined with electrical equipment such as motors, drives, controls or related automation systems.
  • Experience translating customer applications and technical requirements into commercially attractive solutions.
  • Proven ability to build and manage opportunity pipelines and work across a matrix organization.
  • Experience with strategic account development, market analysis, competitive intelligence and Voice of the Customer activity.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including value calculations, pricing, margins and business-case development.
  • Ability to understand product value within a customer application and communicate a clear value proposition.
  • Customer-focused, proactive and comfortable developing opportunities from an early stage.
  • Confident communicator with strong presentation, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across Sales, Engineering, Product Management, Marketing and Operations.
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes, lead times and the commercial impact of operational requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable using CRM and business planning tools.

Expected salary: $130,000 – 150,000 annually. The salary range provided is intended to display the value of the company's base pay compensation for all statewide locations across the United States. Salary is dependent on a multitude of factors, including but not limited to the physical worksite location, candidate's skill set, level of experience, education, and internal peer compensation comparisons.
