Design Engineer III

Work Model: You’ll work in a hybrid model, onsite at your designated Regal Rexnord location, with flexibility to work remotely.

Scope of role

The Design Engineer is an experienced expert in mechanical design, responsible for developing, designing, and supervising new products. This position also involves managing the current product portfolio, working closely with departments like Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Sales.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical design with respect to project delivery timing, quality indicators, and target costs. Mechanical design with respect to project delivery timing, quality indicators, and target costs. Definition and editing of technical specifications, clarification of project specifications with Sales and Marketing, and coordination with Production, Procurement, and Suppliers. Supporting the Quality department in identifying problems and finding solutions both during the development phase and after sales.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (University not mandatory)
  • Experience: At least 5 years in the role of design engineer in similar sectors (electric motors, air conditioning, refrigeration, household appliances, automotive) or mechanical sector. Excellent design skills with 3D systems (preferably Creo and/or SolidWorks) and application modules (part design, assembly design, general shape design, sheet-metal design, drafting)
  • Experience in designing components in:
  • Sheet metal (stamped/folded) mandatory
  • Plastic material (injection/blow molding/thermoforming)
  • Die-cast aluminum components
  • Forged components + mechanical machining (typically brass)
  • Knowledge of the related production processes
  • Knowledge of:
  • Stage & Gate product development processes
  • DFMEA methodologies, Risk Analysis
  • Organizational skills: Responsibility for managing project schedule and costs of the technical solutions adopted
  • Basic knowledge of electrical engineering
  • Good knowledge of English
  • Use of PLM management system
  • Proficient in basic MS Office software
  • Problem-solving skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, predisposition to teamwork.
  • Preferable: Application of motor and drive components and related control.
  • Preferable: Knowledge of electric motors.
  • Preferable: Knowledge of molds, production cost evaluation, mold cost estimation.
  • Preferable: Knowledge of DDM® (PLM).
  • Preferable: Advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Preferable: Advanced knowledge of surface modeling (airfoil design).
