Position Overview
We are seeking a Data Engineer & BI Developer to design, build, and scale data and analytics capabilities for the Perceptiv Platform, an Industrial IoT SaaS solution focused on condition monitoring, asset intelligence, and enterprise integration.
This role will be responsible for transforming high-frequency IoT telemetry, asset hierarchy, and enterprise data into actionable insights, scalable data models, and business intelligence solutions. The candidate will work across Azure data services, modern lakehouse architectures, and enterprise integration layers to enable real-time and batch analytics, dashboards, and connected enterprise workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering & Pipeline Development
· Design and develop scalable data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and storage of IoT data using:
o Azure IoT Hub / Event Hub
o Azure Data Lake (ADLS Gen2)
o Azure Synapse Analytics / Microsoft Fabric
· Implement ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured data
· Optimize data storage formats (Parquet/Delta) and data partitioning strategies
· Ensure data quality, validation, and consistency across pipelines
Data Platform & Architecture
· Implement lakehouse architecture (Bronze–Silver–Gold layers)
· Design data models for:
o Time-series telemetry data
o Asset hierarchy and metadata
· Enable both real-time and batch processing workflows
· Collaborate with architecture teams to ensure scalable and cost-efficient design
Business Intelligence & Visualization
· Develop dashboards and reports using:
o Power BI
o Grafana
· Build semantic data models for:
o OEE, downtime, and machine performance
o Asset health and condition monitoring
· Optimize dashboard performance for large-scale datasets
· Implement row-level security and tenant-aware data access
Enterprise Integration & Data Connectivity
· Enable integration between Perceptiv platform and enterprise systems such as:
o Salesforce CRM
o SAP ERP
· Design and implement:
o API-based integrations using Azure API Management
o Event-driven integration using Event Hub / Service Bus
· Build data pipelines for:
o Master data synchronization (Assets, Customers, Products)
o Transactional workflows (Work Orders, Alerts, Service events)
· Define and maintain canonical data models and data contracts
· Handle data transformation between IoT data and enterprise business systems
Advanced Analytics Enablement
· Prepare and structure data for:
o Predictive maintenance
o AI/ML use cases
· Support time-series analytics, anomaly detection, and trend analysis
Performance & Cost Optimization
· Optimize queries and workloads in Synapse / Fabric
· Reduce cloud costs through:
o Efficient data modeling
o Storage lifecycle management
o Query optimization techniques
Governance, Security & Compliance
· Implement RBAC and secure data access patterns
· Ensure compliance with enterprise data governance and SOC2 requirements
· Enable audit logging and monitoring for data access and usage
Collaboration & Delivery
· Work closely with IoT, backend, and platform architecture teams
· Translate business requirements into scalable data solutions
· Participate in PI planning, sprint execution, and design reviews
Required Skills & Qualifications
Core Technical Skills
· Strong experience with Azure data services:
o Azure Data Lake (ADLS Gen2)
o Azure Synapse Analytics / Microsoft Fabric
o Azure Data Factory
o Event Hub / IoT Hub (preferred)
· Proficiency in:
o SQL (advanced querying and optimization)
o Python / PySpark
Data Engineering Expertise
· Experience in building batch and streaming data pipelines
· Strong understanding of:
o Data modeling (lakehouse, star schema, time-series)
o Data partitioning and indexing
· Experience handling high-volume IoT data (frequent telemetry ingestion)
BI & Visualization
· Hands-on experience with:
o Power BI (DAX, dataset modeling, performance tuning)
o Grafana (real-time dashboards preferred)
Enterprise Integration Skills
· Experience with:
o REST API design and integration
o API Management platforms
· Understanding of:
o OAuth2, JWT-based authentication
o Event-driven architecture (pub/sub, messaging systems)
· Exposure to enterprise system integration (CRM/ERP)
· Understanding of:
o Master Data Management (MDM)
o Business workflows across enterprise systems
Soft Skills
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving architecture environment
· Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
