Planning Manager

Brief Description

The Planning Manager is responsible for managing the activities of planning and scheduling for manufacturing and assembly. Interacts closely with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Accounting, Quality and Sales to effectively plan and execute master schedules to meet and support our customers’ requirements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible to develop and implement Master Schedule from backlog and forecast.
  • Mentor and coach direct reports to achieve a sustainable continuous improvement culture
  • Track and report daily shipment plans in line items and dollars shipped to plan.
  • Create, train and implement best practices through written policies and procedures using Lean concepts to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Monitor adherence to and enforce all policies and procedures to maintain safety, quality, productivity, inventory accuracy, morale and customer service.
  • Engage into process improvement projects with interfacing departments to ensure positive, clear communication related to receiving and handing off of activities and functions.
  • Review and implement methods and processes and recommend improvements for production planning to improve resource utilization.
  • Monitor MPS and MRP accuracy along with all planning parameters.
  • Ensure planning parameters remain up to date in ERP system.
  • Direct and ensure manufacturing dispatch and sequencing is accurate to meet customer demands.
  • Create and ensure accuracy of daily build list provided to assembly daily.
  • Collaborate with M.E., Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering to ensure non-conforming components and assemblies are properly dispositioned to ensure build plans are successful.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing to ensure materials arrive on time to meet daily schedules.
  • Identify, plan, coordinate and communicate daily assembly & shipment priorities through measurable schedules.
  • Create and maintain overall capacity planning based on backlog and forecast, to identify constraints and actions to mitigate and ensure production sustainability.

Desirable Experience, Capabilities and Success Factors

  • Minimum 10 years in a Planning management role in manufacturing environment, preferably Aerospace
  • Experience master scheduling in a production environment
  • Bachelor degree required
  • Good working knowledge of MPS, MRP planning, scheduling, lead times, capacity and cost analysis
  • Good working knowledge of ERP systems along with Microsoft office Work, Excel, PowerPoint Outlook and Project.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret blue prints and routings
  • Ability to constructively communicate with all levels and types of personnel
  • Ability to train and develop personnel through monitoring, measuring and improving practices
  • Ability to work well under pressure, and handle a variety of task simultaneously
  • Must be organized and able to meet deadlines.
  • APICS preferred

Salary: $90,000 - $145,000 annually

Several factors are considered when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role responsibilities, candidate’s work experience, skills and education.
